Screen Memories, the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery, is centred around a series of large-scale paintings on transparent fabrics. For years Hardy has been interested in the dual roles of painting as both image and object and in the screen as a powerful support for ideas.
Composed of varying coloured rectangles and squares floating in space, these ambiguous and atmospheric works question how we look, what is possible as painting, and how meaning is made and lost.
